Nikolay Kolyada's Theatre is closed /

(...)"

Nikolay Kolyada's theater is very creative and unusual, but long ago has the problems of premise.

A couple years ago, Ekaterinburg's Administration gave them an old single-storeyed wooden house (if I'm not mistaken, the administration free leases the house to Kolyada's theatre on 50 years). It is better than nothing, indeed. Plus is this house is located on a quiet lane in centre of city.

However, after the awful Night Club's fire in Perm city in last year, the powers organizes many fire-prevention inspections (monitoring-tests) of the clubs, theatres, cinemas etc. Indeed, it is very important, but Kolyada's theatre initially has almost unsolvable problem. Actually, they cannot guarantee the all requirements of fire-prevention security because it's a wooden house, because a lot of props, because the members of audience, because the house has not the fires exits etc. etc. (this house initially was not public one, but residential only).

so, it is very badly

I hope only on a public scandal...

I think it would be better solution to gave them more well-suited house (of stone, for example). The oddity is that Kolyada theatre takes a lot of the prestigious awards in Russia and abroad. It is an experimetal theatre in many points. May say, it is a good brand for Ural region in particularly and for Russia ever. But the regional administration sees on it almost without any enthusiasm.

that seems a shame, a pity.

and you know here too... well, England, respected for its theatre and stage productions -
and yet, just the same... so many theatres in disrepair or forgotten so that heritage is lost,
or else saved by private means and become sort of bland museums.

but the urge for drama, for production is somehow undiminished :))

nevertheless, I remember, about ten years ago London recreated The Globe theatre again...

The oddity is that Kolyada theatre takes a lot of the prestigious awards in Russia and abroad. It is an experimetal theatre in many points. May say, it is a good brand for Ural region in particularly and for Russia ever. But the regional administration sees on it almost without any enthusiasm.

well yes, this is what i mean, the arts, funding and administration i don't know anywhere that these things are dealt with enthusiastically by a council (or whatever). Bu-u-ut i can also understand, limited budgets, priorities etc. Difficult to balance. I do wish more people saw the arts as a long term benefit however.
31st-Jan-2010 07:38 am (UTC) - Kolyada's theatre works now
Fortunately, Kolyada's theatre is open now.
The firemen service said that theatre has eliminated ALL problems earlier named by the fire inspectors.

Indeed, these words rather are a formality than true. Anyway, the theatre works now.
